Clinical Study of the antibiotic Effect of- BANAN^(®) (Cefpodoxime proxetil) on Neurosurgical Patients

Abstract
|
|
|
The antimicrobial efficacy and safety of Cefpodoxime proxetil(BANAN®) was observed in 33 patients with various bacterial infectious condition of neurosurgical department at the Chung-Nam National University Hospital from Feb. to Jul., 1994.
1) The Cefpodoxime proxetil was highly effective in 29(87.9%) of 33 patients with various bacterial intection clinically or bacteriologically.
2) There were no significant adverse effects such as nephrotoxicity or hepatotoxicity.
3) There were mild skin eruption with itching sensation only 1 case (3.0%)
From the above results, it was concluded that Cefpodoxime proxetil was very effective and safe antibiotics in the treatment of various bacterial infectious condition of neurosurgical patients.
